D-Max Photography Tips for better Senior Portraits
D-Max Photography Tips for better Senior Portraits

Bring your clothes hanging on hangers. It is tons easier to go through. Even on location in the vehicle.

Bring twice the number of clothes you think you need. We need a lot of variety. ALL SEASONS. Jeans!

White is not a good clothing choice. White or light colored clothing makes you look heavy and washed out.

Please bring a variety of clothes from all seasons. Jeans are our favorites!

Bring only one person with you. Bringing more people slows the session down and distracts the photographer. Don't bring the baby that your sister is watching.

Pets and extra people in the portraits are an additional $25.

Automobiles have to be shot somewhere off the premises. They also have to be shot early in the morning. We have to know in advance what type of vehicle we are shooting.

Bring a dark pair of shoes if you want to get into the creek. (Flip Flops float away easy)

Pick things that make your face and arms look good. We don't see a lot of shoes. Sleeveless tops make your arms look big.

Get a good nights sleep and have your clothes ready the night before. Eat a small meal before you come.

Girls, wear make up! "But we think she looks good enough without it" The camera sees all. Trust us when we tell you that you will like them more if you wear make up. We aren't saying we want you to look like a clown. Just a little more than you would think.

Skirts and dresses. If you bring a lot of these, we are very limited on posing options. Its hard to squat and do some poses in skirts. We like skirts and dresses, but keep it to one or two. Simple jeans are our favorite.

Theme Portraits: This is when you bring a team/sports/band uniforms. Maybe a guitar, trumpet or other instrument. Snow board/skis, ballet. You get the idea. When you do these things, and we love them, try to keep it to the ones your kids really love. They eat a lot of time. We get customers that will do a formal shot, and three different uniforms, guitar, drum sticks, and wonder why we didn't have time to shoot some amazing portraits of their face. We don't hang several outfits in the background and have them wear one. Other photographers hang 4 outfits back there to try to get them all in one shot. Then the senior looks so small you can barely see them! We don't do that here. It takes a long time to set up and to have a few proofs of it. It looks corny! Pick and choose what is important or get a bigger session.

Come with a good attitude. I'll try to make you smile. I usually succeed. But if you don't want to smile, I'm not going to make you. Tell us in advance.

Don't be late! We will not extend your session into someone else's session. You will just lose those minutes. Start early.
