D-Max Photography Tips for better Regular Portraits
D-Max Photography Tips for better Regular Portraits

1 White is not a good clothing choice for adults. White or light colored clothing makes you look heavy and washed out. White or light colors add weight to you. Dark solids work best.

2 If we are photographing a child, bring only one parent. If you are not having anyone else in the portrait please leave them at home. Other children and family members slow things down. Mornings work best for children, not after work when everyone is tired.

With children, we only photograph them one at a time. It is extremely difficult to photograph a group of small children. Very difficult. We can do a multiple together if adults are holding them in a family group only.

3 Pick things that make your face and arms look good. We don't see a lot of shoes. Sleeveless tops make your arms look big.

4 Ladies, wear make up! "But we think she looks good enough without it" The camera sees all.Trust us when we tell you that you will like them more if you wear make up. We aren't saying we want you to look like a clown. Just a little more than you would think.

5 Skirts and dresses. If you bring a lot of these, we are very limited on posing options. Its hard to squat and do some poses in skirts. We like skirts and dresses, but keep it to one or two.

6 We may ask you to sit or pose on the ground.

7 We actually like photographing very casual portraits the most. Not church clothes. We can get so much more variety in a pair of jeans and a long sleeved shirt, sweater, or top. The days of 12 people in a suit are over. Try something different! At a lake, laying in pine needles, in an alley or in some tall brown grass. We have great ideas.

8 Glasses: If you can take the lenses out it would be best. The lighting is so much better if we don't have the glass glare.
